業を背負った男が３人、休日の遅い午後に寄り合い、罪深い昼飲みをすることになった。急な階段を登った２階は立呑らしく、３階は座れるという。「座りたい…」で、３階へ。
席につくと中華女子がテーブルに案内してくれる。生ビールを頼むと、すぐにやってきた。お通しのキャベツのぶつ切り。業を背負った男１号が「ワシら、カマキリじゃないんだから…」とぽつり。１号は最近、愚痴っぽい。キャベツとソースポットを見て、ここが串揚げ屋であると知る。ここはテーブルごとのデジタル端末でオーダーするので、大声で中華女子を呼ぶ必要がない。串揚げを数本、枝豆をオーダー。
ちょっと飲み食いするには良いかもしれない。難があるとすれば急な階段と、ひとつしか無いトイレ。
休日の日中、店には多くの若い業の者が集っていた。
