恵比寿駅から動く歩道を抜けて右の橋（アメリカ橋と呼ぶらしい）にある「ローカルインディア恵比寿本店（Localindia）」。2023年で創業20年の老舗であり、関東に9店舗を展開するインド料理店です。
店内はインドというよりはバリっぽい雰囲気であり、四捨五入するとパセラな感じです。ゆとりのある座席配置であり広々とした印象。夜に飲み会で訪れてもありよりのありかもしれません。
お昼時は「カレーランチ」「プラウランチ」「ターリーランチ」の3種であり、私は「ターリーランチ」を注文。1,300円のところ、プラス100円でルー大盛をお願いし、合計1,400円です。
サラダは付くのですが、ほんのオマケといった程度です。まわりのテーブルを見ると「カレーランチ」「プラウランチ」の場合はもうすこし立派なサラダが提供されていたので、あたしベジファーストなんだけどという方はそうしたほうが良いかもしれません。
「タンドリチキン」は全然美味しくないですね。美味しくないというか、骨ばっかりで可食部がほぼありません。これで単品200円というのは涙が出ちゃう。やはり「カレーランチ」「プラウランチ」にすべきであった。
こちらは「フィッシュカレー」。オニオンベースで白身魚を煮込んだカレーとのことであり、普通に美味しいのですが、コクも深みも鮮やかさもなく、3日もすれば忘れてしまいそうな味覚です。
「チキンティッカカレー」はトマトベースで穏やかな酸味を感じつつリッチな味わいであり、私はコッチのほうが断然好き。ただ、鶏肉量がやはり少なく、当店はチキンがハコテンな芸風なのかもしれません。
「プラウライス」とはインド風ピラフのことであり、うっすらと色づいているものの風味に乏しく、君たちは本当にもう。
ナンは変わっていて甘味が強く、バターのコクは控えめです。サイズこそ大きいものの重厚さには欠け、私の口には合いませんでした。以上を食べて1,400円。パっとしないランチでした。「カレーランチ」「プラウランチ」の千円ランチを注文していればまた印象が違うのかもしれませんが、このクオリティで1,400円というのは割高に感じました。この辺りのカレーという意味ではやはり「カレーの店ボンベイ」のほうが記憶に残りやすいかもしれません。あの辛さは一生忘れない。
