店内は随所にバリ島を模した設えで雰囲気満点。ところで料理がどうにも口に合わない。そして高い。
■牛ホホのルンダン¥1,900
とにかく甘く重い。酸味と香味のないビーフシチューに、砂糖とラードを混ぜたような味。舌に脂がまとわり付く。スパイスやハーブの存在感はほぼない。辛さもない。何よりも以前、現地で食べた物とは似ても似つかない。これはルンダンと言えるのだろうか。
付け合わせのチャツネやピクルスは、味変として役不足。キュウリの断面は乾いていた。
■バリラックスサラダ¥1,012
ランチに野菜を食べたい。平日はサラダバーがあるらしいが、週末はこれしかない。量的に2〜3人でシェアできればいいけど仕方ない。
すりおろし野菜がたっぷりのドレッシングは絶品。酸味が効いて美味しい。
サニーレタスにアボカド、トマト、ボイルした海老。メニューにはおこげと書いてあるが、焦げめのないポン菓子がサクサクと食感のアクセント。味付けしていないポン菓子の香ばしさが、ドレッシングに良く合う。
細かく刻まれたプロセスチーズが全てのバランスを崩している。チーズの主張が強過ぎて、ドレッシングとも合わない。
