When it comes to pizza, it's Shakey's!
"Shakey's pizza dough is made from wheat flour in the store every day. Only at Shakey's can you enjoy pizza with a crispy texture that you can choose freely. The buffet includes a salad bar and curry. |
ナポリピッツァが上陸する遥か前から。ピザといえば米国のイメージであって、イタリア由来の概念も定着してなかった70年代から日本で展開するパイオニア的な存在。実際、米国初のピザチェーンでもあります。
近年はピッツァに押され気味か年々規模も縮小気味。こちら40年続いた新宿店も残念ながら2024年5月6日で閉店となります。
こちらのピザはクリスピー生地で、ピッツァとは別物。ピザトーストくらいしか無かったあの頃、本場の味が来たと一種の憧れに感じたこと懐かしく思います。別物とはいえちゃんと店内で捏ねた生地はクリスピー感もあるし、ピッツァより軽いので悪くないです。
食べ放題スタイルなので、常時10種類ほど鎮座、ローテーションでそれ以外のものも順次並びます。ピザが看板ながら、スパゲッティ、カレー、サラダ、ドリンクバーと盛り沢山。ピザ以外は既製品のジャンキーさと味の濃さがありますが、ファーストフード的なお店なのでありでしょう。店内は懐かしいアメリカ音楽が流れ、昔に思っていたアメリカを感じられるような気もします。
店のシステムも雰囲気も昔のまま、客層も昔と変わらず若者だらけ。久々訪問で、昔ほど食べれなかったですが、若者に戻った気分に浸れました。
規模縮小ながら好調な新しい店舗もあるので、これからの躍進に期待しています。
