あまりにも商売っ気の無い店というのは滅多にお目に掛かることがないのだが、此処はそういう店だった。新宿御苑の２つ北側の旧甲州街道沿いの立地の良い場所である。トルコ料理は半年～１年程で一度程の頻度で食べに行く。休日の昼間に1人でということである。この店も以前より認識していたので、ふと出向いてみた。
店は奥に長い鰻の寝床で、入口より右側が厨房、左側が客席である。入口より一番手前の席に壁を背にして着座。メニューを眺めて、Ｃセットのイスケンデルセット（日替わり鶏肉＆牛焼肉削ぎ切りトマトソースヨーグルト掛け)を頼んだ。サラダに豆のスープ、パンが付く。食後にはチャイも付く。内容としては良い。メインである鶏肉と牛肉の削ぎ切りはボリュームもしっかりで、トマトの酸味も優しいもので良いのだが、平日は1,100円のものが休日は1,800円というのはどうにも理解し難い。それは勘定を払う段でスタッフが一度間違えて、その後に説明をされたことで判ったが、そうと知らないままの方が幸せであった。内容が異なる様な記述はないので量が異なるのかも知れぬが、その了見が判らぬ。異常な差である。
店はエアコンは奥の天井にある様だが、全然、涼気が届いておらず蒸し風呂である。まさかトルコだから蒸し風呂ということではなかろうが・・・ この猛暑に室内で暑気を拭えない様な店は殆ど無かろうし些か尋常ではない。料理をする男性と給仕の若い女性の二人しかいなかったが、客が殆どいないにもかかわらず給仕は非常に緩慢で些かの愛想もない。「戊」のレベルである。店は色んな説明に於けるその完璧な日本語からして、日本人が経営して店の運営はトルコ人に任せていると見る。もっと現場を見て改善した方が良かろう。残念ながら二度と訪れ様とは思わぬ。
