●Friday, May 28, 2021● A Yakitori Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) has opened in the place where an Asian restaurant used to be. Even during the state of emergency, we are working hard to stay open until after 8pm. The store was almost full. The food is nothing special, just yakitori skewers, horse sashimi, and stews. A glass of alcohol costs around 500 yen, and a bottle of yakitori starts at 150 yen. The yakitori is by no means delicious, but 150 yen seems expensive considering the quality. However, it is a convenient store because it is in a good location and is open until late. The store's signature stew comes in white and red versions with different seasonings; the white is gentle and soothing, while the red has a richer flavor that would go well with alcohol. I wasn't expecting much from the horse sashimi, but it was delicious. It's refreshing, so it might be good to take a break from eating. Ordered the yakitori assorted platter. I thought the price per bottle was a bit high, but the platter was a good value and I was glad I could enjoy a variety of flavors. They also had highballs from whiskeys such as Hakushu and Chita, which are no longer available these days, and I was happy to be able to drink them for the first time in a while. It was a noisy store, for better or for worse, but it was good to see it was lively. [Score] ★★★★★★ 6/10
