新宿御苑界隈で午後から仕事のこの日、早々にコインバークに車を停めて昼食のお店を探しました。まだ11時を回ったところだったので開いていない店舗も多いところ、エスニックらしいこちらのお店がオープンしていて惹かれました。迷うことなく入店です。
一番客で入口の席に着席しました。初めて見る「ホワイトガパオ」が珍しかったのとメニュー左上にあったので「ホワイトガパオと本日のヌードルセット(950円)」をお願いしました。本日のヌードルは「トムヤムクンラーメン」、サラダとドリンクも付くセットです。ドリンクは「ジャスミンティー」で・・
「エスニック」の看板ですが、「タイ」と「インド」がメインのようです。お店の方たちは皆さん「タイ」の方でしょうか。「インド」はカレー系のメニューのようです。
まずは「サラダ」と「ジャスミンティー」が届きました。シーザードレッシングの美味しいサラダです。外国人スタッフのお店はいい意味で放置してもらえるのでかなり気が楽です（笑）
しばらくしてメインの2品が到着しました。どちらも1人前？ ちょっとヘビーそうです。
まずは「トムヤムクンラーメン」から・・ あぁ、これは本格的です。なかなかの辛さ、ナンプラー（魚醤）も感じます。パクチーもしっかり・・ 「レモングラス」に「コブミカンの葉」か「ローリエ」と香りや味を引き出す素材もちゃんと入っています。これはいい・・ ただ、苦手な方は食べられないかも（笑）
一方の「ホワイトガパオ」は、クリーミーで誰もが食べやすい味わいです。ココナッツミルクでマイルド化しているのでしょうか。元々日本人でも食べやすい「ガパオ」がより食べやすくなっています。「ご飯」はタイ米と日本の米のブレンドかな、オンザライスの「目玉焼き」はちゃんと「半熟」で、良くできた一皿だと思います。
面白い組み合わせのランチで楽しめました。アラカルトのメニューはインド系も多いようです。看板の「ホワイトガパオ」や「春巻き」、インド系のカレーやチキンのメニューなども選べば、香草や魚醤が苦手な方とも一緒に楽しめそうな「タイ」「インド」のお店です。千駄ヶ谷と北青山にも系列店があるようです。
