以前明治通りを歩いていた時にチラシをもらいました。
ナンのお替りができる、ごくごく普通のカレーレストラン。
先日昼に通りかかったので入店。
あちこちでセミの音が聞こえる、暑い夏の日。
明治神宮に近いのですが、間に国立競技場へ続く道、頭上には首都高新宿線があり、静かというわけではありません。
入店すると客は1組だけ。
男性スタッフに、ここが涼しいと案内されたテーブル席、冷房にムラがあるのでしょうか。
注文はすでに決めていたC おすすめランチセット 950円(税込)、カレーは2種選択ができ、種類があって迷いますが、やっぱりほうれん草とチキン、そしてマトン。
本日の日替わりはマッシュルームとエビでした。
辛さは辛口、ドリンクはマンゴーラッシー。
テレビはお昼のワイドショー、壁には現地のビールのポスター、あまり雰囲気を高める内装ではありません。
タイ料理もメニューにはあり、ガパオ、パッタイなどが載っています。
最初にマンゴーラッシー、見ただけで濃いことがわかる、鮮やかなオレンジイエロー。
そして料理到着。
大きく、やや艶の入ったナン。
カレーは目にも鮮やかなグリーンのほうれん草カレーとイカにも、という感じのマトン。
そしてサラダ、というごくごく普通の組み合わせ。
いつも通りナンをちぎってほうれん草のカレーにダイブ。
辛さはあまり感じず、どの店もほうれん草のカレーは辛口を頼んでもそれほど辛くありません。
野菜の甘みで中和されてしまうのでしょうか。
ナンはサクッとした食感が強いもの。
ほんのりとした甘さ、でもこれだけでは物足りない、やはりカレーがないと。
チキンはフレーク状になった肉片、唐揚げのようなやわらかく淡白な味付けが心地いい、でもこちらも辛さは控えめ。
そのうちに12時を回ったころから込み始め、気が付けばほとんどの席が埋まっています。
仕事の合間の昼や住み、という感じ。
ここからちょっと代々木駅に向かって歩けば飲食店はいくつもあるのに、なかなかの人気店のようです。
男性スタッフが忙しく立ち回り、タイミングをみてナンの追加依頼。
届いたナンは半分に切られ、いかにも出来立て、という熱さ。
特に変わった店ではありませんが、職場の近くにあったら週に１回は来て、すべてのカレーを制覇したいです。
ほかに飲み放題のパーティーコースがあるのですが、残念ながら2人からの注文。
入口には東京都の感染防止徹底宣言のポスターが貼ってありますが、コロナシールドやテーブルの削減、入口の消毒液などはありませんでした。
この店が怠慢だ、することもしないでポスター掲示とはけしからん、といいたいわけではありません。
対策をすれば絶対安全、というわけではなく、むしろ入口に手洗い設備をつけるか、アルコールの含まれた使い捨ておしぼりを義務付けたほうが効果的のような気がします。
