大久保でカレーの人気店に行きましたがすでに昼の部は満席。
でもがっかりすることはありません。
大久保は韓国だけでなくアジア圏の飲食店が集まり、予備知識なしでも楽しめそう。
ただそれは大久保と新大久保の間、と思っていたのですが、新宿に近いこの場所で目に入ったのはトルコ料理。
トルコ料理と言われてもケバブかサバサンドしか知らないなあ、と看板を見てみましたが、店内から呼ばれたこともあり思わず入店。
中近東の飲食店にありがちな男性スタッフだけの店、奥に長い席につき、メニューを見てよくわからない日替りセット 950円にします。
内容をスタッフに聞いてもスープとしかわかりません。
期待しつつ待っているとサラダ。
これは普通。
料理は赤いトマトスープらしきものと黄土色のスープ。
パンはトルコ風とのことですが、ふわっとかサクッという食感ではなく、弾力のある冷めた味、例えるならお好み焼き？
ふーんと思いつつナンのように赤いスープにつけていただきます。
スープ自体味があまりしません。
香辛料が効いて、と思っていたのにサラサラのミートソースに冷めた、おやきを食べているみたい。
もう一つのスープも不思議な味。
以前マッシュルームのスープをいただいたことを思い出させる味。
日本人の好みに合わせて、なんてことはあまり考えていない様子。
でも食事を通して少しだけトルコを体験。
隣の席は女性グループ、ケバブを食べています。
不思議なことに道端のケバブサンドの方が香りが強い気がします。
でも次回は牛肉のケバブを食べに来ようかな、と思ったのでした。
