There is a Korean home-cooked dish called budae jjigae. It is said that each family has its own traditional and original way of making it. I heard that it originally started during the Korean War when South Korea didn't have enough food supplies, so they got canned Spam and sausages from the U.S. military and used them and vegetables to make hot pot. Anyway, that day I wanted to eat some delicious budae jjigae. However, because budae jjigae is a home-cooked dish that should be enjoyed by multiple people, most Korean Cuisine restaurants serve budae jjigae for 3 or 4 people, so it was hard to find a restaurant that served budae jjigae for 1 person. Meanwhile, I found Soju Hanzan, a restaurant that makes budae jjigae for just one person. The inside of the restaurant was clean and had a comfortable space to eat. The group of women sitting in front of me were eating an attractive lunch box with Yakiniku (Grilled meat) grilled by the staff, but this time I didn't hesitate to ask for a lunch of budae jjigae. The budae jjigae also includes Ramen, but it also comes with rice. The seasoning of the panchan is also quite good. I took a bite and found that the taste was quite good. Although it is a little salty, it has a lot of ingredients and is quite delicious as a hotpot. Inside were pork belly, Spam ham, regular ham, sausage, chives, carrots, onions, kimchi, shimeji mushrooms, tofu, bean sprouts, mochi, and Ramen. You'll be full just by eating all of this, but the presence of rice will make you eat even more. When I finally finished eating about half of the food, various ingredients started to appear. I can understand how Koreans feel about serving their own homemade budae jjigae as a treat to guests. This was delicious. Moreover, it only costs 980 yen, so isn't it too cheap? It was a very moving day as we were able to share Korean food culture.
