池袋西口中本、石庵の並びのビル２階に構える串揚げ【和季】
狭い階段をあがり、怪しげな扉を開けると、カウンターで仕事する大将と着物姿の女将さんが笑顔で迎えてくれる。
店内は、ズラッと並んだカウンターのみで、大人の店といった印象を受ける。
客層は２、３人のサラリーマンや、カップルが多く見られるが、平日は特に混んでる様子はない。
メニューは串揚げをメインに、他にも渋い酒の肴が若干ある程度。
串揚げはお任せコースを頼むのが一般的だろうか。
そしてこの店での一番の重要点は、値段だろう。
そう、全体的に値段が若干高めなのである。
知らずに入ると軽いヤケドをする可能性があるので、懐は少し暖かいくらいの時に来訪しよう。
お任せコースを注文すると、テンポ良く揚がった順に料理を運んできてくれる。
どれも一口サイズなので、酒のつまみに良く合うのがまた良い。
お任せが一巡すると伝えてくれるので、追加をしたい場合は好きなものを伝えて揚げてもらう。
つけダレも確か4種類くらいあり、品によってお勧めのつけダレが判るように置いてくれるので、迷うことなく全ての料理が美味しく頂ける。
味に関してはやはり文句がないくらい全て美味である･･･が、もう少し値段を安ければなというのが本音のところ。
値段と味のバランスは取れているとは思うが、ほんの少しだけ値段が勝ってしまっているかなという印象を受けるのが残念。
プリっとした海老や旬の野菜などの美味さを考えると、串揚げ屋として新鮮なものを使っているのだろう。
実に美味い店である。
