日曜日なのに、年末の繁忙のため休日出勤。
積まれた決裁文書を処理し、残ったレポートを作成し、次の仕事のためのいくつかの資料を探し出し、あらかた片付いたところで職場を脱出。
池袋まで戻ってきたのは19時。
そのままさっさと乗り換えて帰ればいいものを、仕事疲れの体に潤い補給がしたくなり、帰り道とは反対の西口方面へ。
駅近くで美味いビールを飲もうとここにやってきました。
池袋西口公園前の路地を入ったビルの地下にある店。
ブリティッシュ・パブのスタイル、店の奥にはライブステージもありました。
大型モニターもあって、ライブもあればスポーツ中継など、様々なイベントが行われるようです。
ラグビーのＷ杯の時はすごかったでしょ？と聞けば、「すごいたくさんのお客さんが来ました。外国人の方も多かったですね」とスタッフの方。
ラグビーファンの外国人の方は、我々など足元にも及ばないくらい桁違いのビール飲みますからね。
イベントのある日は大盛況となるようです。
しかし、日曜日の夜は落ち着いたもの。
イベントもないこともあり、お客さんの数もまばらで店内も静か。
70年代、80年代のブリティッシュロックのBGMを聴きながら、カウンター席でゆっくりビールを飲ませてもらいました。
10タップあるビールの中から一杯目は、ワイマーケットのDistortionIPAのパイント(1,500円)。
ボディが非常にしっかりして、ホップの苦みもガツンと効いた飲みごたえのある一杯。
二杯目は、いわて蔵ビールのパイント(1,330円)。
ビールの種類がメニューに表示されていませんでしたが、色と味からゴールデンエールかなと思います。
香りがいいですね。
口当たりがよくて、ボディは優しめ、わりとすっきり飲めてしまいます。
三杯目はスコットランドのブラックアイルハイバネーター(スタウト)のパイント(1,400円)。
香ばしさと濃厚さのビール。
ミルキーでゆったりした飲みごたえの味でした。
料理はメニューにハギスやシェパーズパイなど、ブリティッシュ・パブらしいメニューが並ぶ中、無難にフィッシュ＆チップスをハーフ(600円)で注文しました。
モルトビネガーをジャバジャバとかけていたら、「たっくさんかけた方が美味しいですよね」とスタッフの方。
よく分かっていらっしゃる。
白身の魚がホクホクで、ビールとの相性の良さは言うまでもありませんでした。
飲み物はビールだけシングルモルトもそれなりに揃っている様子。
イベントのない静かな夜に、懐かしのブリティッシュロックを聴きながら、シングルモルトを飲ませてもらうのもいいかなと思います。
人が多いと、きっと煙もすごいでしょうからね(;^ω^)
