Lunch at Takadanobaba is best served until 2:30 p.m. After that time, most stores will take a break. Today I decided to try Chinese food in town, so I entered this restaurant at 2:10 p.m. The lunch menu is cheap. Both the 650 yen rice bowl and 750 yen set meal come with a large serving of rice free of charge. Today I had a mapo tofu bowl for 650 yen. It came out within 3 minutes of ordering, so I guess they were pouring the ready-made food over the rice. Even though it's mapo, it's lukewarm and lacks punch. It's not too spicy, so I thought it would be good to try another dish, but apparently the shrimp chili egg is what I'm aiming for. The main dish wasn't very good, but the soup was good. Even though it's seaweed soup, it has a bit of seaweed flavor. It's definitely cheap and fast, so it might be a good option for a casual lunch.
