本来はしゃぶ禅六本木店で岩中豚バラ肉のしゃぶしゃぶをいただく予定だったのであるが、前日１８日の自宅での夕食が豚カツだったことから急遽牛しゃぶに変更することとなり、期間限定で出されていた三大和牛（神戸牛・近江牛・松阪牛）の食べ比べと増田牛のサーロイン１枚をいただくことになった。当日は日比谷線の六本木駅で下車し、東京タワー方向へと歩いてしゃぶ禅六本木店に向かったのである。
しゃぶ禅六本木店を訪れたのは２００４年以来１７年ぶりだったのであるが、店の雰囲気も１７年前とは大きく変わっていた。席に着席した後、早速お冷と前菜のローストビーフ、生野菜が運ばれてきたのであるが、ローストビーフは生玉葱と少し甘めのソースが見事な美味さを演出していたし、生野菜はかき氷の入った器に盛られていたのがとても涼しげに見えたのである。また、生野菜を特製のソースにつけるとさらに旨味が引き立った。
やがて食べ比べの近江牛、神戸牛、松阪牛のリブロース、増田牛のサーロインと野菜、白いご飯、ポン酢、ごまだれ、辣油、おろしにんにくがぼくのテーブルに運ばれてきて、早速ぼくはしゃぶしゃぶを堪能することになった。しゃぶしゃぶ肉は神戸牛、松阪牛、近江牛のリブロース、増田牛のサーロインという順にいただいたのであるが、お肉の柔らかさでは松阪牛のリブロースが絹のような口あたりで一番だったのである。一方、噛むたびに生じる旨味に関しては全ての肉を通して甲乙が付け難かった。
また野菜は渋谷店と同様、茸が２種類あって見た目が楽しかった上に豆腐、くず切り、白菜とバラエティーに富んでいた上、〆のうどんも薄い緑色をした特徴のあるものだった。最後のデザートはバニラアイスクリームをいただいたのであるが、まったりとした口あたりと濃厚な甘みが最高だったのである。
