麻布台を散歩していると偶然見つけたお店。初めて見た気がするのですが、オープンは2018年４月とのこと。
窓が大きく採光が良く、開放的な雰囲気の店内。しかしながらランチのピーク時だというよに先客はおらず。むむ、これはちょっと嫌な予感。
注文前からランチ向けのミニサラダが供されました。作り置きであるためか、ドレッシングや野菜の水分が分離し器の底に溜まってチョベリバ。野菜の鮮度も非常に低く、やはり嫌な予感というものは当たるものである。
メニューはタイ料理を中心とした東南アジア料理とインド料理がごちゃ混ぜ。とりとめのないラインナップです。いずれも1,000円を超える強気の価格設定。
セットの飲み物はラッシーかチャイかを選択可能。キンキンに良く冷えた飲むヨーグルトであり、本日一番のお皿でした。
私が注文したのは最高値1,200円のビリヤニ。インド方面における贅沢な炊き込みご飯であり、調理にかなりの時間を要するものと理解しているのですが、あり？ものの3分で提供されたぞ？
それにしてもとんでもない量です。1合以上はあるのではないでしょうか。また、本物のビリヤニは様々な材料を幾層にも重ね合わせて炊き上げる量であり、こんな均一な色合いに仕上がることは絶対にありません。これでは下宿生が作る出来損ないのドライカレーではないか。
食べ進めていっても、やはりスパイスの風味に乏しい。本来であれば口に含むごとに異なる味わいが爆発し続けるものですが、このワンパターンでフラットな米料理は何なのでしょう。鶏肉もただ入れただけであり、哲学が皆目見当たりませんでした。
半分ほど食べ進めてギブアップ。そのまま立ち去るのは勿体ないので、残りは持ち帰りたい旨を店員に伝えると、「持ち帰りはできない」との回答。しかしながら私はメニューに「TAKEOUTOK」という記載を見つけており、これはどういうことかと改めて尋ねます。私は生クリームのようにしつこい性格なのだ。
店員の説明は「テイクアウトはテイクアウト用のメニューであり、店内で注文したものは持ち帰れない」とのことでした。その理由を重ねて問うと「できないものはできない」と言われ、ゲーム・セット。自分の足で歩くことを忘れた大人には何を言っても無駄である。もったいないお化けに言いつけてやるからな。
