南房総のリゾート温泉旅館「別邸 夢前」の中にある劇場型鉄板焼き専門店「バクノス」が赤坂に進出、ナチュラルローソンの前に「バクノス赤坂」として開店しました。鉄板焼き店といえば主要店は焼きを見られる劇場型カウンター席が多いですが、当然ながらこちらも肉を焼く一部始終を目の当たりにしながら焼き立てのステーキなどをいただけます。今回、この店のプレオープンをオーナーが筆者の誕生会として開催してくれました。
店名の《baknos》とはどう意味か？と席上話題になり、英語・フランス語・ラテン語の語彙力を総動員したけど、分からない。聞いてみると「獏の巣」。全然誰も思い当たらなかったけど、筆者が通うこの店から至近のおでん屋でこの話を振ると、店員が即答で正解。やはり物事は考えすぎない方がいいようです。
開宴10分前に入店。カウンター12席と机席・個室は満席。特注コースは筆者がリクエストしたアワビを含めた10皿。アワビのソテーやうにく巻きなどの味付けやサーロインとイチボの肉の焼き加減だけでなく、魚の火加減もフランベなどの演出も素晴らしく、満席のカウンター席は盛況。バースデーケーキもしっかり用意され、楽しい一時となりました。
