It's cold and rainy, so I thought I'd just go to a nearby soba restaurant for a quick lunch, but I'd always passed up this place because it didn't have much presence, so I thought it might be good to have a glass of wine in the afternoon, so I decided to give it a try. (Actually, I'd thought about going in twice, but both times it was a reserved party for local madames, so I was defeated.) The restaurant is small, with tables that can barely fit 20 people, but it has French cuisine feel and a relaxing atmosphere. In front of me was a madam's lunch party with 8 people, and next to me was a madam's lunch party with 6 people! I was just an old guy (^◇^;). It was lively! It seems to be very popular with the local madames! There are four types of course menus on the menu. They are reasonably priced at 1700 yen, 2300 yen, 3600 yen, and 4300 yen. I wanted to enjoy the hors d'oeuvres and soup, so I went for the 2,300 yen course. I also wanted to drink wine, so I decided to try two Oyster from Sanriku, which were specially prepared for the day. The baguette came first, and after a bite, I thought, "This is surprisingly good!" The oysters were fine and soft, and the olive oil was light and not too strong, which was good. And then came the raw Oyster from Ofuna, Sanriku! Yes, they were huge! They weren't plump or thick, but they had a firm flavor and were milky and delicious. And the shallot vinegar went really well with them! The wine was VINUS Chardonnay, a reasonable table wine that can be bought by the bottle for around 1,500 yen, but it was a very delicious white wine for the price, and the light perfume-like aroma was perfect for Oyster. The four hors d'oeuvres were chestnut and mushroom terrine, Oyama chicken, marinated octopus, and marinated salmon. It was amazing that none of them were disappointing. The soup was warm cauliflower soup. It is smooth and finely filtered, and delicious. You can choose between fish and meat for the main course, and I chose meat. On this day, it was grilled pork. The quality of the pork itself was so-so, but it was fragrant, chewy and crisp, and I thought they were doing a great job for the price. It even came with chocolate cake and coffee for dessert. By the way, all the madames had the 1,700 yen course. This comes with three types of hors d'oeuvres and a mini soup, and the main course is the same, but you can choose fish or meat, and it also comes with bread, dessert and coffee, so it's quite good value for money (only available at weekday lunch). Even so, the madames of Banchou really know what they're doing! A delicious, hidden gem Restaurants with good value for money. After all, you can enjoy more than two hours for 1,700 yen. Eh? Are they trying to pay individually for that number of people? No, as expected, the restaurant staff refused (^◇^;). After paying, everyone put on masks, and I thought they would finally leave the restaurant, but they started chatting again! Just when I thought that was about to begin, one of the members went to the restroom and the chatting resumed again (^◇^;)! Wow, it was right in front of me so I couldn't help but observe, which was rude, but in a way, it was amazing. The sense of time passing was rich and elegant. At the end, I was envious, but I was busy so I had to leave early. I was happy to have found a good restaurant so close by. Thank you for the meal!
