L'Octave Hayato Kobayashi is a small French cuisine Restaurants where you can enjoy a "dish like a work of art" with all five senses. I was excited to visit this restaurant, which is listed as one of Japan's top 100 restaurants. The course menu is reasonable, at just 16,000 yen for dinner. The menu includes: Amuse-bouche, Appetizer 1, Appetizer 2, Appetizer 3, Fish dish, Meat Dishes, Dessert, Sweets, Coffee or tea. There were also some original dishes, such as the onion gratin soup, which uses a whole onion from Hokkaido. The bowl is shaped like an onion, and is supported by a base of rock salt, which is very stylish. When you remove the lid, you'll find an onion gratin inside, with the caramelized onion overflowing and the aroma whetting your appetite. It is eaten while mixing with the rich cheese on top. This gratin soup, simple yet full of flavor, is the specialty of this restaurant, and is the one that is most memorable. The rest of the menu is basically classic. . . Even before I got to the food, I was concerned about the speed of service... The relaxed atmosphere didn't really suit me. I learned that deliciousness isn't everything after all.
