もちろん、しょうもない大資本の飯田橋店とか神楽坂店なんかに比べれば、どれだけだめでも個人店は大歓迎なのだけれど、どこどこで修行してどうのこうのでというPRに、はあ、としかいいようがないところも多く、このレストランも写真等のパッとしなさかげんから、そうなのかな、と思っていた。パッとしないのは結局その通りだったが（失礼）、ここは良店だよ！店が古いビルの一室で、窓のサッシからして雰囲気がいまいちだったり、テーブルクロスが使い古して毛羽立ちまくってたり、洒落たデートには微妙だったとしても、家族での食事、たまの贅沢のためのなじみの店として、積極的にお勧めする。
居酒屋店主との相性もそうだけど、料理そのものが売りのレストランも、やっぱり人柄の部分重要。ちゃんとしたプライドがあって、多分仕込みにものすごい労力をかけているであろうことが伝わってくる。でも、俺すごいだろ？うまいだろ？の押しつけがなく、ひっそりと堂々としているような。
ランチ、いつものごとく、せっかくだから魚と肉と両方のメニューにしようかと悩んだ末に、今回は一品だけの方にできた。それぞれしっかりした量があったので、この選択は正しかった。前菜のカルパッチョ的なものからボリューミー。縁のだだっ広い皿にちょこんではないので、おしゃれかといわれるとそうでもないけれど、こぎれいなプレゼンで好感がもてる。この前いった東京會舘のスカイラウンジみたいな。古き良き洋食屋ね。パンとバターも洒落てないけど美味しい。あまり食べないステーキにしたが、これまたよかった。全体的に古いんだよ。でも上品でこぎれいな古さ。暗くなったり、押しつけられたりしない孤高の古さ。
唯一オニオングラタンスープの薄味はあまり好みではなかったけれど、コース全体通して美味しかったといえる。店主も、給仕の女性も、客も全員控えめで品がよくて、気持ちよく店を後にできた。
