神田カレーグランプリのスタンプラリーにて初訪問。
今日でフリーコース10店舗目なのでついでにバディー賞をもらって帰ろうと考え、九段下のWATA軒さんに来ました。喫煙OKのスタンディングバーということですのでどんなお店かなと思って伺うと、店外で女性スタッフが弁当を売り、中では男性ワンオペで切り盛りしていました。椅子があるカウンター席が4つ、奥はハイテーブルが置かれた立ち席4名程度のスペースです。
奥の壁にはプロジェクターで、クラブDJの演奏が映し出されているのでちょっとカッコイイ雰囲気。
メニューはいくつかありましたが、３辛のレッドチキンカレーを注文。「食後にコーヒーをお出ししますが苦手ではないですか」と聞かれます。15分ぐらいして提供なのでゆっくりめですね。オーダーを受けてからチキンを焼くのと野菜の素揚げの音がしましたのでその都度揚げていたら時間がかかるのは致し方なしか。
黄色いココナッツカレーに野菜がゴロゴロ。驚いたのは大きめの筍2片。その他ズッキーニ、ジャガイモ、パプリカですが食べ応えありです。チキンはカレーの中に入っているものと、素揚げかソテーしたチキン2種入っています。これが香ばしくて美味しく仕上がっています。筍はホントに大きめのカットで驚きました。細切りが入ったカレーは食べたことがありますが、こんなブロックの筍がカレーに入っているのは初めて。結構イケますね。ご馳走様でした。
