The restaurant was on the first floor of a small multi-tenant building off the street. It was a Standing bar Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) and the inside was small. There were chairs, though. I decided to sit at the counter and drink alone. It wasn't the nicest place, but I guess you could say it had its own charm. It was run by a young man who learned his skills at a Spanish Cuisine restaurant. I noticed Spanish Cuisine on the menu. Smoked persimmons were served as an appetizer. The first beer I had was Suntory's "Tokyo Craft." It was a pale ale. As for the food, I ordered this assortment of snacks. It was a three-piece platter (850 yen) with olives, carrot rapée, and Spanish Prosciutto. It was a great value set. Next, I ordered "rainbow trout confit." It was rainbow trout oil sardines. Confit is not fried in oil, but boiled slowly in low-temperature fat. It was well marinated and had a nice flavor. The last dish I ordered was "caldozo," a Spanish-style rice porridge. One portion is 1,500 yen. They have red and black, and I decided to order the black one, which is made with squid ink. The ingredients are squid, shrimp, and clams. The squid ink is a shiny black color. The richness of the squid ink seeps into the rice, bringing out the delicious flavor. The ingredients are cut into large pieces, so it's filling. This was also good as a snack to go with alcohol. For the second and third drinks, I had a Kaku Highball (600 yen). I think the total cost for all of the above was about 5,800 yen. It was a decent value for money. After me, two female customers came in alone. They were chatting amicably with the man at the restaurant, so they must be regulars. It also seemed that curry was their specialty during the lunch period. Thank you for the meal. Here is the blog post. http://asap.blog.jp/archives/49681539.html
