御茶ノ水駅の東京医科歯科大学裏に構える人気おでん店。ミシュランガイドにも掲載されたお店だが、そうした敷居の高さは感じない非常にアットホームな空間。常連も新規客にも人気の居心地のいいお店。新丸ビルや銀座にも支店があるが、こちら本店の雰囲気が好きなお客さんも多い。
カウンターのみ20席の都心とは思えないタイムスリップしたような空間には、瓢箪をモチーフにしたものが多数。創業者がおでん界の天下を取る意気込みを示すために、豊臣秀吉の馬印である瓢箪のマークを使っているのだそう。
おでん界の天下を取るため、まずこだわっているのは出汁。
椎茸、鰹節、鯖節、昆布のバランスにこだわった、しっかりと味が出た出汁。余計な調味料は使用せず、塩のみで味付けしている。思わず飲んでしまいたくなる出汁。
おでん種も手作り。特に黄色いこんにゃくは食感も味も特徴的なのでぜひ。季節のおでん種も美味しい。
夏は比較的空きがあるので訪れやすいが、冬は予約がなかなか取れないので予約必須。寒い日に訪れると美味しさ倍増。
