2024年3月のとある休日の11時過ぎに訪ねた。
水道橋駅から徒歩2,3分ほどの場所にあるビル2階のチキンライスの店「シンガポール 海南鶏飯 水道橋店」。
程好い広さの店内は思ったよりも混んでいて、8割方が客で埋まっていた。
テーブル席に1人で座り蒸した鶏肉と揚げた鶏肉の両方が楽しめる「チキンライスハーフ＆ハーフ」¥1,100を注文する。接客のスタイルもシンガポール由来と感じた。
12,3分ほど待って料理が提供される。
蒸しと揚げの鶏肉に鶏ダシで炊き込まれたライス、スープに生姜と2種のソースが付く。
ダークソースとスイートチリソースに蒸した鶏肉を合わせながらライスと共に味わう。コクを感じる蒸し鶏は良い味。
蒸した鶏肉にはダークソースを合わせて食べると良い感じ。香ばしさと旨味の中に仄かな甘みを感じる独特な味わいのソースが良い。
揚げた鶏肉は厚みを感じるようカットされており、香ばしさが楽しめて良い。スイートチリソースとの相性の良さを感じながら満喫する。
鶏肉の下に敷いてあるキャベツと一緒に鶏肉とソースを楽しみながらチキンライスを食べてスープを飲む。野菜の入ったアッサリした味わいのスープがチキンライスによく合う。
鶏肉にはすりおろした生姜と一緒に食べると良い。ダークソース、スイートチリソースに生姜を混ぜて味わうと旨味が増す。
スライスしたキュウリも合わせながら食べ応えのある厚みの鶏肉を堪能したチキンライスを味わい尽くす。
シンプルな構成の定食ではあったが、安定感のあるシンガポールスタイルのチキンライスを堪能することが出来た。
食べている間に店内は満席になっていた。PayPayで支払いを済ませて店の外に出ると行列が出来ているほどの人気店。水道橋駅で美味しいチキンライスを楽しめる「シンガポール 海南鶏飯」は駅から近くて利用しやすい店ではあった。
