神保町は日中は賑わいがあり、ランチの店を探すとき、選択肢に事欠かない。だが夜はというと悩んでしまう。水道橋駅まで行けばかなり店はある。小川町や淡路町まで足を延ばすと、もうすぐ神田だ。神保町、店としては中から大箱の飲み屋はあるが、こじんまりとした雰囲気の良い店は少ない。
そんななか、この店はいい。渋目の店主と円熟の女将が仕切っている。客層も高めで、酒場を知っているベテランだ。酒は焼酎系から、酒中心だろう。酒揃えは多くないが、つぼを押さえている。店内は居酒屋というよりは、小料理屋のような体裁だが、肴は刺身から鍋、そしてしゅうまいといった大衆酒場の定番まであるのが嬉しい。
少人数で飲むのも良いが、カウンターでしっぽり一人酒もいい。
