「みはし上野本店」。この場所は、幼い日々の懐かしい思い出と深く結びついている。
母と出かけた上野での日々は、私の小さな世界を広げる体験であった。松坂屋での買い物と、聚楽台での昼食の後、時には「みはし上野本店」へ足を運んだものだ。
店の名物である、あんみつも魅力的だが、幼き私の心を奪ったのは、なんといっても、そのソフトクリームであった。
普段はイトーヨーカドーに入るアイスクリーム屋で味わうことの多かった私にとって、同店のソフトクリームの味は、まさに感動的なものであった。見た目は普通のソフトクリームかもしれないが、一口味わうと、他店にはない味わいが広がる。その高級感と濃厚な甘さに、私は心を奪われたのだ。
長い歳月を経て、今回、妻と共に、再びその本店を訪れる機会を得た。妻は季節限定の「いちごクリームあんみつ」を選び、私は当然「ソフトクリーム」を注文した。
店内は古き良き時代の雰囲気を漂わせ、甘味処としての温かみが感じられる。一口のソフトクリームが、幼き日の楽しい記憶を蘇らせ、懐旧の念に浸らせてくれた。思い出と食の結びつきの深さに、改めて感動し、満たされた心で店を後にした。
