North exit of Hirai Station. A shop selling ``50 yen yakitori'' that opened at the intersection near Shin-Koiwa. When I visited before 6pm, it was already about 30% full. Sit at the counter and enjoy Nachu (480 yen). The appetizer is cabbage. Serve with miso. There are 14 types of yakitori for 50 yen. I ordered green onion, manuke, liver, heart, gizzard, seseri, and wasabi fillet (50 yen each). The grill is run by a boyish female employee in her 20s. This is probably the youngest yakitori restaurant I've ever been to. Yakitori is not bad considering the price. Probably because I ordered without mentioning the taste, everything was grilled with salt. And the overall taste is bland. Eat while adding salt and sauce from the table. Maybe they made it bland with that kind of eating in mind? I added Otsukaresan Sour (390 yen) and was charged 300 yen for the seat (including appetizer), making the total 1,610 yen. Yakitori is cheap, but drinks are expensive. I guess that's where the balance is struck. It's fine for people who don't drink much and mainly eat Yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), but it's a bit difficult to use for drinking beer.
