本所吾妻橋駅から北上すること数分。
大通りに面したカフェですが、先客はなく、静か。
中央に大テーブルがあり、壁際に二人掛けのテーブルが数個。
窓際に着席し、ふと外を見ると、真横の奥に、
スカイツリーが見えました。 晴天に映えてきれいです。
さて、こちらでは、珍しい、イギリス発祥のイートンメスが
いただけます。 見た目は、パフェですが、似て非なるもの。
1930年代から、イートン校独自の製法で作られた伝統的な
お菓子で、いちご、メレンゲ、クリームを混ぜて作ります。
いろいろなフルーツで作られますが、イチゴが基本、とのことで、
この日は、イチゴのイートンメスのスモール 990円 と
カフェラテをお願いしました。
エキゾチックな顔立ちの男性店員さんが作ってくれます。
コロンビアの出身とのことですが、ずっと日本で育ったそうで、
日本語は完璧。 「日本語、上手ですね～～」と言ったら、
よく言われる、と、笑って答えてくれました。
とても感じがいいです。
さて、ストロベリーイートンメスですが、
いちごのメレンゲがかわいらしくあしらわれ、
いちご、アイス、クリームと混ぜていただくと、
意外にも、軽やかで、さくっといただけます。
カフェラテも本格的な味わいでした。
焼き菓子もおいしそうだったので、
またお邪魔したいと思います。
