下小岩小学校に音楽室ができるのは、東小岩小学校からすごい音楽の先生が来るからなのよという、田舎から小岩へ遊びに来たシシボネーゼ達の会話が聞こえるかのよう。
ああ、憧れのボローニアは、一瞬で40年の時季を超え、あの頃の無垢な僕に戻す。
母は決まって、地中海スパゲティを頼んでいたが、当時の僕はエビもイカも嫌いだった。だから、コーンベーコンのピザを弟と取り合いしながら食べていたな。
あの記憶に浸りたい僕は、地中海スパゲティ大盛りを頼んだ。たくさん食べて満足したかったのだ。
身体を見て増やして下さったのかもしれないが、まさか半分で撃沈するとは。残りを持って帰ることにした。
人気はこの地中海、青じそ、イタリアンといったところか。地中海はエビ、アサリ、わかめ、イカ、トマトが入るがベースは塩味。素材の味が活きる絶妙な加減は並大抵の努力ではできないことがすぐにわかる。
看板には僕と同学年のしるしが。ああ憧れのボローニアも年男年女。どんな苦労をしたらこんなに続けられるのだろう。
まどから白百合幼稚園に通っていた頃の無垢な僕が見えた気がした。
