たまたまE-PARKを見ていたら土曜日夜の枠がとれてしまった。いつ見ても週末は満枠ながらも、平日は比較的とりやすいみたい。それでも枠は瞬殺。
この週末は渋谷駅改良工事とやらで山手線が大幅減、ダイヤが乱れに乱れまくってそれが他の線にまで波及。埼京線に至ってはホームから人があふれて入場規制がかかる始末。
そんなわけで定刻のギリ10分前に滑り込みセーフ。予約した場合、15分前までに来いと言われてるんだけどね。
新小岩駅から徒歩10分弱。なかなか変わらない横断歩道の信号がもどかしい。
店先には10人ほどがたむろ、並んでいるというよりも呼ばれる順番を待っている感じに見えた。
それをスルーして入店、店員に声をかけると即座に食券購入へと。
濃厚魚介つけめん@1,080をポチり。
いったん外へ出て待機していたら、間髪入れずに呼ばれて再入店。外待ちの客の視線が背中にビシビシ刺さって心なしか痛いわぁ。
店内は厨房をぐるりと囲むL字型のカウンター席のみ。スープ割りのポットが頭上に見える。
着弾〜食券購入〜着丼までおよそ5分ほど。大行列店なのにストレスフリーというのは大いに歓迎できる。けど、それは争奪戦を勝ち抜いた者のみが見られる景色であって。。。
並んでいる間に心身ともにスタンバイしておくもんだから、着いていきなり食べるとなるとあたふたしてそれはそれでどうもいけない。
スープの丼に顔を近づけると、一瞬カレーを思わせる匂いがふわっと立ち上る。
ためしに麺を一本引きずり出してそのまま啜ってみると、小麦の風味がすごくてまるでうどん並み。
濃厚魚介とあるスープはまずひとくち目に鶏白湯をたしかに感じ、その直後に魚介の出汁が追いかけてくる。とくに節が目立つかな。エッジの立った中太麺とのコンビネーションも抜群。
スープに沈んだ熱々のつくねからは紫蘇の爽やかな風味とコリコリの軟骨のテクスチャ。
具はシンプルに海苔と青ネギのみで勝負。もうこれだけでいい。余計なものは一切いらない。この麺とスープだけで第一線で戦えるだけの実力を、まざまざと見せつけられた。
行列店といったってどうせまたおま系なんでしょ、とたかをくくっていた自分を恥じる。
東京どころか全国でもトップクラスだと誉れ高い「一燈」のつけ麺。伊達に数多くの弟子を輩出しているわけじゃなく、すぐ近くにこちらの旧店舗を引き継いだ「yoshiki 」があったり、こちらのスープを流用する「燈郎」があったりと、もう完全に新小岩は一燈タウンと化している。
かと思えば六本木／東久留米の「入鹿TOKYO」だったり、蒲田「宮本」だったり、本郷「鈴春」だったりと錚々たる面々を輩出。同門に秋葉原「ほん田」や松戸「とみ田」など「こうじ」グループの出身が名を連ねる。
そんなこんなに気をとられていたら、あまりの美味しさに危うくトートバッグを忘れるところだった。
