[5 minutes walk from Tsukiji Station or Shintomicho Station] Simple Japanese cuisine in a hidden alley
An old house quietly nestled in the back alleys of the city. Simple traditional Japanese cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal fish and vegetables sourced from Toyosu. Delicious sake recommended for wa |
A 2-minute walk from Shintomi-cho. This restaurant is located in a hidden back alley. It is an old house that was renovated from a vacant two-story building. I entered the restaurant, took off my shoes, and sat at the counter where the chef was. I was told to come at 7:00 p.m., so I guess everyone starts at the same time. The first thing that surprised me was that two beautiful women dressed in traditional Japanese attire welcomed me, and I hesitated, wondering if I had come to the wrong restaurant. (Really?) I ordered a draft beer for the first drink. The foam was creamy and the pouring was great! It went down smoothly. Starting with the appetizer, the soup, sashimi, grilled food, and all the other dishes were very hospitable, and I felt my cheeks falling off. They were extremely polite. The last sweet treat was a Shine Muscat Monaka. The Monaka skin was roasted over charcoal, giving it a fragrant aroma and being piping hot. The combination of the sweet bean paste and Shine Muscat, along with the sweetness and slight sourness, left my mouth feeling refreshed. I got some rice balls made with clay pot rice as Onigiri. This clay pot rice was also full of ingredients and the flavor was well-absorbed and delicious...! The restaurant is only open at night, but they apparently get up at 5am to prepare. It's a restaurant I'd like to go back to. Thank you for the meal.
