恥ずかしながら"coco 壱"は初めて。最近、何かの写真でこちらのシーフードカレー的な物を見てから気になり始め、今回立ち寄り。
店内は大手チェーンらしく整然としており、最近のカフェさながらに電源もあることにやや驚き。"海の幸カレー(ライス大盛)"をオーダー。出てきた物は大きめのスルメの輪切りやアサリ、エビが入り旨そうな物。
ところが、食べてみるとシーフードのダシはほぼ感じられず旨くない。スルメも何かコンビニなどにあるイカフライのような味付けがなされており、スルメの風味は全く感じられず。アサリも同様に風味はなくゴムを食っているよう。
以前、毎日のように食べていた築地の中栄が、観光客向けにと"シーフードカレー"をメニューに乗せ始め、試しに食べたことがあった。シーフードのダシとカレーの相性が絶妙で非常に旨かったのだが、その時は「旨いけど、まあ、こんなものだろう」程度に思ったもの。今回はそれを思い出したということもあるのだが、実際にこちらのカレーを食べてみて、アレ(中栄)は"まあ、こんなもの"ではなく"本当に旨い物"だったのだと再認識。久し振りに中栄にでも行ってみるか…。
