浜松町最終日のランチでお伺いしたのは、1995年8月開店で北インド料理を売りにしている此方。この周辺では老舗店と言えるでしょう。
ランチタイムも終わりかけの13時半過ぎに訪問。3種類のランチセットの中からAランチ1,130円をオーダー。内容はお好みのカレー1種、ナンまたはサフランライス、サラダ、フルーツ入りヨーグルトの構成。カレーは日替わりメニューの中からチキンバターの辛口で。
店内のBGMは陽気なインド音楽が流れ、エキゾチックな雰囲気を演出。客層は圧倒的に女性客多し。お辛いのがお好きなのか。
程無くして配膳。たっぷりなルー、サフランライスはジャポニカ米かな、サラダとヨーグルトは銀カップに入っています。
早速ルーをライスにかけて独特な香りのするクミンと共に頂きます。最初は甘く、後からスパイスの辛味がジンワリ来ます。食べ進めていくと身体が火照り、汗もジンワリ出て来ます。ですがミルクや生クリーム、バターの影響でしょうか、こってりと濃厚で旨辛です。粘り気の有るジャポニカ米のサフランライスとも相性は良いです。
ヨーグルトもさっぱりした甘みの有る味わい。サラダは酸味の有るドレッシングがかけられていますが此方は普通。
食後感は刺激の有る辛味の中に、スパイスの香りと効用により深みの有る味わいでした。やはり開店から四半世紀以上経過したお店だけの事はあります。ご馳走さまでした。
