ピッツァとピザの違いをご存知ですか？
スペルは同じ”pizza”ですが、イタリアとアメリカでの発音がこの違いになっております。つまり、イタリア式の”pizza”をピッツァと呼び、アメリカ式の”pizza”をピザと呼ぶのです。現在、高評価を受けるピッツェリアのほとんどが前者のイタリア式。といっても、日本におけるナポリピッツァの流行はまだまだ歴史は浅く、アメリカ式のピザのほうが馴染みが深いかもしれません。いわば、日本式ピザと言ってもいいかもしれません。
さて、前段が長くなりましたが、今回紹介するのは”ピザ”の老舗。
創業は1974年。いつからピザを提供しているかはわからないが、ドミノピザの日本初進出が1985年だったことを考えると凄いですよね。メニューは51種類に及ぶが、サラミ、ベーコン、マッシュルーム、ハムなど具沢山のミックスが人気。
チーズを増量したこともあってか、トマトソースのソースとチーズの味わいが主役に。ところどころでミックスの具材達と出会います。ピッツァがもちもなら、ピザはカリカリなのが大きな特徴。パリっと薄いパン生地のようであり、おやつ感覚で食べれるようなお菓子のよう。懐かしさを感じるのはナポリピッツァが流行る以前の世代だからでしょう。
ピザ以外では喫茶店的なメニューが並びます。ナポリタン、ピラフ、ドリア、グラタン、といった感じ。やはりミックスのドリアをいただきましたが、やはり懐かしい味わい。ホワイトソースがたっぷりで、増量したチーズの味わいが食欲をそそります。誤解を恐れずに言えば、子供の頃に食べた冷凍食品の味わいによく似ている。郷愁の味はいつだって満足感を生み出します。ご馳走様でした。
