3rd floor of a building in the bar district of JR Oimachi North Exit. It's near the station. I'm having dinner with a friend who comes to Tokyo once a month, and this time I booked a course that included drinks at this restaurant that claims to be a ``soba kappo'' restaurant. The appetizer is Simmered dish vegetables, and the four types of sashimi include tuna, bonito, amberjack (?), and octopus. Salad with Caesar dressing. Wakatake stew is served with chicken meatballs. There are three types of Tempura: shrimp, sweet potato, and lotus root (this one is delicious). Dashi-rolled eggs. Steamed chicken breast with tamari soy sauce (this is a little disappointing as a main course, but I've eaten quite a lot so far, so I guess it's worth it). Finish with “Hegi Soba”. Is it from Niigata? The color is matcha brown, similar to brown soba, but the presentation is distinctive. Drinks include draft beer (super dry), sweet potatoes mixed with hot water, and highballs. It's sad that there's no sake in the drinks. There are some dishes that I'd like to try with sake... Generally speaking, calling yourself a ``kappo'' restaurant may seem intimidating, but the restaurant serves dishes that are a little more elaborate than Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), so it was easy to get used to. In a sense, it seems like Oimachi.
