戦後の闇市的な雰囲気を今も色濃く残す大井町東小路飲食店街。その奥まった場所にある小さなビアバーです。徹底した品質管理と注ぎ方の工夫で提供される「日本一おいしいスーパードライ」をはじめ各種ビールとビールにあうツマミがウリ。
ビール好きの知人と打ち合わせを兼ねて軽く飲もうということで初めて利用しました。伺ったのは開店直後の16時過ぎ。お店は一階、二階合わせて5坪以下と聞きしにまさる狭さです。
一階の店内と店外はスタンディングで二階は8～10席くらいのテーブル席。2～3杯は飲むつもりだったので、階段登って窓際のテーブルに着きました。
二階は確かに狭いけれど、それなりに落ち着けるスペース。窓の外 すぐ頭上に旅客機のエンジン音すらいい感じBGMに聞こえます。
そのスペースで飲んだビールは順番にピルスナーウルケル S700円、Ceti Alpha VIII S850円、アサヒスーパードライ S680円の三種類。
元祖ピルスナーを意味するピルスナーウルケルはホップの苦味が程よく利いてバランスがいい。1842年から製造されている歴史あるビールですが、今はアサヒビールの傘下だそうです。
Double IPAのCeti Alpha VIII はさらに強いホップの苦味と8%以上のアルコール度が特長。2015年から醸造を始めたという東京のブルワリー、デビルクラフトのビールです。
アサヒスーパードライは美味しいけれど、一杯目に飲むべきだったかもしれません。
ツマミも気が利いていて、辛口サラミとパルミジャーノ・レッジャーノの盛り合わせや豚肉のパテが500～600円。メニューにはないけれど軽くトーストしたバゲットのスライスも付けてもらいました。全部ビールに合う。
軽くのつもりが居心地良くて気がついたら入店からもう一時間半。下地も出来たし、腹も空いたので二軒目に向かいました。ビールにうるさい知人も気に入ってもらえたようで何よりです。
