東京都港区南麻布に位置する焼鳥店「やきとり嶋家」。麻布十番駅から徒歩2-3分の場所にあるお店で、特に熊野地鶏を使用した料理が人気を集めています。店内にはカウンター席とテーブル席が用意され、テラスでは犬も一緒に連れてくることができるのだとか。
「やきとり嶋家」の最大の魅力は、何といっても熊野地鶏を使った焼鳥。熊野地鶏は三重県熊野市の特産品で、「八木戸」、「伊勢赤どり」、「名古屋コーチン」をかけ合わせた比較的新しい品種の鶏です。環境の良い広い場所で平飼いされ、飼料には新姫（ミカン科の果物）を与えることで、抗酸化作用のある成分を多く含むのが特徴。
その熊野地鶏を使った焼鳥は、肉色が赤みを帯び、弾力に富んだ肉質が魅力。程よい歯ごたえとプリプリの弾力があり、一般的な鶏肉とは比べ物になりません。脂身に鶏特有の臭みがなく、ジューシーな脂の旨みが感じられるのも特徴です。地鶏本来の濃厚なコクと風味があり、旨味成分を多く含んでいるのが魅力。
アラカルトでの串の注文も可能で、前菜や締めの親子丼も美味しい。お刺身盛り合わせも非常におすすめで、新鮮な鶏肉を楽しむことができます。
「やきとり嶋家」の嬉しいポイントは、港区近辺にしては非常にリーズナブルな価格設定であること。熊野地鶏を使用しながらも、手頃な価格で絶品の焼鳥を味わえるのは、普段使いのお店としても嬉しい限り。
