週はじめ、あっさりと蕎麦が食べたくなった。当日にこちらの情報を発見し、目黒通りを駆け上がって来店。来る前に食べログで天丼のレビューなどが目に入ったので、てっきり普通の町蕎麦屋かと思っていたら、立派な手打ち蕎麦店。セットメニュー等はない。
お屋敷のような建物の1階。しんとした雰囲気の中、2番手だ。蕎麦打ち台で丁度蕎麦を打っている方が外から目に入ったところ、せいろを味わうべきように思えたが、あまりの寒さで「若鳥そば」(1,200円)を注文してしまった。
応対のお母さんは「今打っていますので…」、ということで、少し時間がかかるとのこと。結局約30分待った。
当方の後に入った妙齢の男女は、せいろと天丼の両方を注文。どんだけ食べるんだ？と思ったが、蕎麦の量はかなり軽く、どうも天丼もウリらしい。そういうことか～。
「若鳥そば」は、小ぶりの丼に入って出てくる。
細めに打たれ、麺の表面の凹凸が、手打ち打ち立ての良い蕎麦であることを物語っている。味わって食べると、温そばでも香の伝わってくる良い塩梅。
つゆは熱くてあっさりとしているが、後味に出しの旨味が広がるようなつゆでこちらも何ともおいしい。鶏肉はもも肉独特の香りがある。肉の味が薄味だから、蕎麦の量が少ない分これである程度腹がふくれる。
しかし、待った割にはあっという間に食べ終わってしまった。嗚呼、この消化不良感、忙しくて完全にリサーチ不足だった。
退店時、出口近くにある蕎麦打ち台に、外からガラス越しに目を向けると、中にいた係の女性が美しくお辞儀をして、その実に折り目正しい感じに、カジュアル過ぎる態度と格好で来てしまった当方は少々驚いてしまった。
