Restaurant highlights |
Enjoy the deliciousness and comfort.
In September 2009, we moved from Higashi-Kitazawa, where we had been operating for 16 years, to Ikenoue, and opened as a new brasserie with the hope that our customers would use it as a French-style I |
I went there on a holiday lunchtime. It was very empty, probably because of the bad weather. Usually, it fills up soon after opening. This is my first visit since moving from Higashi-Kitazawa. There are two types of lunch, the standard menu (omelette) and the daily menu. I had the daily menu. The main dish of curry rice comes with soup, salad, pickles, coffee and tea for 1,260 yen. The soup is carrot potage. It has a very mild taste. It's delicious. The homemade pickles have a clean and refreshing taste. The curry is a keema curry with a light spice. I also ordered fig compote (315 yen) as an extra. It's superb. It's boiled in red wine and flavored with cinnamon. It brings out the flavor of the ingredients to the fullest. You can get this for about 1,500 yen in Ginza. This is a Western Cuisine where a French cuisine chef serves everyday dishes. Of course (?), all the food is handmade. There are no flashy dishes, but I was impressed by each and every one of them, which are carefully made. The wife who serves the customers. I was impressed. They were very fussy about what we ordered, but you could tell they wanted to serve delicious food in the best possible conditions. And the chef has great confidence in all the dishes he makes. The husband and wife team prepare their food with absolute confidence. They build expectations, then bring out something that exceeds them. I was blown away. This wonderful restaurant truly embodies the famous song, "It's Only A Paper Moon," which is probably the origin of the restaurant's name. I would like to visit at dinner time as well.
