バーは、言わば一日の総仕上げ。
お食事をして語らい、場所を変え本格的に飲み、最後にたどりつく所が、ベルベットであることがとても多い。
大抵の場合、恵比寿の松下からここ下北のベルベットに流れて、満足の一日が終わる。
ガラスのドアをおすと目の前にカウンターがあり、左手奥に伸びている。
カウンターが途切れた右側に小さなキッチン、左側にレストルームがある。
更に進んだ奥はボックス席になっていて、カウンターからの視界は完全にさえぎられるスペースになっている。
密談や小さなパーティーまたデートに良さそう。
私を連れてくるお酒にとても詳しい人が、絶賛してやまないのが、ベルベット。
子供だましではない、本物のお酒を出して入れる数少ない名店なのだそうだ。
シングルモルトからフレッシュフルーツのカクテルまで、大抵のものがそろっている。
バックバーをみれば、そのお店のポリシーが分かるらしい。
ジュースのようなあまあまのカクテルを飲む私には、本格辛口のカクテルが大人の飲み物に映る。
いつも柔和な感じをふりまくなおさん。
でも、テイスティングするなおさんの顔は、厳しいプロのそれだ。
お酒に弱い私には、アルコール分控えめでブレンドされているのだけれど、なおさんの振るシェーカーから注がれるカクテルは、充分私には本格的だ。
やはり美味しいバランスは、決してジュースのそれではないのだろう。
ジュースのようなカクテルの私にも、ちゃんとチェイサーが供される。
ほの暗い店内、チェイサーの煌めく薄いグラスに、私はなおさんのプロとしての優しさとプライドを見る。
