I visited Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) Ubu, which a friend of mine recommended in Shimokitazawa. The inside of the store is not large, with tatami rooms and tables, but it can accommodate quite a few customers. It was after 9pm when I visited, but even after that, there were many customers, so it was a popular restaurant. The staff was friendly and even gave advice on alcohol selection and recommended dishes. I heard many stories about the store, such as the manager making his own salted fish and yuzu pepper. Negidaku salt liver has a salty taste that can be eaten as is without any odor. It comes with salt, but you may not need to add it. The garlic that was served with it had been prepared well, so it wasn't too garlicky, it had just the right amount of aroma, and it was very delicious when eaten together. The dashimaki tamago was fluffy and had just the right amount of salt. This time, I mainly drank Japanese sake, and all of the dishes paired perfectly with Japanese sake. I ordered various drinks and the bill was not that expensive and the cost performance was good. Good for a casual date with delicious food and drinks.
