[2 minutes from Soshigaya-Okura Station] The friendly owner will welcome you with seasonal Hokkaido flavors and Game Meat Dishes. Private banquet room for 6 people or more.
Although it is close to the station and convenient for meeting up, this is a hideaway-style Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) that is quietly located in an alley. They serve a variety of Hokkaido dishes ma |
2014.09 It's 5pm on a weekday and they're not open yet When we asked, they replied "They open from 6pm", in a slightly gruff way A senior reviewer had a negative impression of them as "unfriendly" I know them well, so I know they were just confused by the suddenness of it It would be a shame to leave a bad impression, so I took them back after visiting another place We returned at 6.30pm, and as soon as the owner saw us he was in business mode and said "Thank you for coming earlier" (After all, earlier he had been in preparation mode) Cheers with draft beer and tomato mix They prepare two different types of appetizers for each person, so there were four types lined up for two people Mozuku seaweed, blanched vegetables, taro, what else was it? We ordered 6 skewers, with a request for 3 lamb and 3 Ezo deer. The chef's choices were [Lamb belly, lamb tongue, lamb shoulder], [Ezo deer belly, Ezo deer heart], and [Ezo deer meatballs]. The lamb skewers allowed us to enjoy the fatty meat, and the Ezo deer was soft and had no smell. It was my first time trying meatballs, but they were made of high-quality lean minced meat with little fat, so they went well with the rich sauce. Feeling encouraged, the two of us went on an extended drinking spree at my favorite secret club, where I got the senior reviewer drunk with some cheap shochu and was in high spirits. The two old men were in high spirits and hugged each other at the ticket gate as they were leaving...no, they hugged each other tightly, thanking each other for their efforts. To an outsider, it would be a truly gruesome sight. The power of alcohol is scary... If the neighbors were to see us and start rumours that we were "that kind of guy?", who would take responsibility? (lol) ------------ 2013.11 Revisited, first to arrive at 7pm on a weekday First, we ordered Ebisu draft beer and about three Grilled skewer. We asked the chef to choose the cuts for us. The appetizers were boiled hijiki and batter-katsu. [Grilled skewer skewers: lamb belly, lamb tongue, Ezo deer thigh] ← in the order of the photos. These are cuts that you may not be familiar with, so I'll do my best to explain them to you. The Ezo deer thigh was surprisingly tender and moist. It is a high-quality red meat; it's hard to find words to describe it like chicken or beef. We added some mountain wasabi and lemon to add some flavor. Venison doesn't have any strong animal smell, so I think anyone could enjoy it. The Ezo deer served at this restaurant is explained on the menu, but [b:Mr. Akio Hirota (a hunter by profession) who lives in Shirato Town, Shirato District, Hokkaido, shoots them in the head for meat, drains the blood and butchers them on the spot, so it is delicious meat with no blood getting to the internal organs]. "I see, so that must be why there's no unpleasant smell at all. The Ezo deer I ate before was hunted with a shotgun and eaten in a hotpot, so this Grilled skewer has changed my image of it. Shooting someone in the head is amazing, there must be someone like Golgo 13 in Hokkaido (lol). "Lamb tongue" Grilled rare and very tender. The meat is soft, but has the unique texture of tongue with a crunchy bite. It doesn't smell like lamb at all, so it's like it's made from only the best parts of pork tongue. Sorry if that's a cheap way to describe it. "Lamb belly" Here the lamb's distinctive smell is concentrated in the fat, so it is trimmed away, but this Grilled skewer is about half lean meat and half fat. However, there is only a faint smell of lamb, and you can directly taste how delicious the lamb is. Adding mountain wasabi on top makes it even more delicious. [b: The lamb meat used is "from Iceland", and the taste is different from that of New Zealand lamb due to the difference in feed. The owner sources his meat from Iceland because he says it was the most delicious he had ever eaten. He buys the whole cow and butchers it himself so he can serve each part separately. [Homemade smoked assortment] A platter of smoked cheese, kamaboko, and pickled radish. Cherry blossom chips are a classic, but they go well with any ingredient. Smoked pickled radish...eating the iburi-gakko made me want to have some rice with it (lol). We had two glasses of draft beer, a daidai sour, and a lime sour, and the bill came to just under 4,000 yen. I'm around the same age as the owner and I are in a similar situation, so we had a great time talking and it was fun. Thank you for the meal ------------ (August 2011) I went with a friend because we thought there was an interesting restaurant to try. There is only counter seating and the interior is like a bar with dim lighting, but in the display case in front of us there are a variety of ingredients waiting for their opportunity to appear. They grilled the lamb and venison cut by cut, like Yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). We tried all the cuts and enjoyed them, thinking they were delicious, but we drank too much and had completely forgotten the taste by the next morning.
