たまにどうしようもなく食べたくなる食べ物の一つがビリヤニです。しかし、以前よりだいぶポピュラーになったとは言え、どこにでも置いてあるものではありません。ここは店名に「ビリヤニ」と入れているからにはこだわりもあるのかと思い、訪問しました。
「クラシックビリヤニセット」1,180円をお願いしました。ハイデラバーディ チキンビリヤニ 又はムグライ マトンビリヤニ（後者を選択）、パニール シャシリク、チャナチャット、ロースト パパド、ライタ（ヨーグルトサラダ）、ドリンクという内容です。
調理がよく見える席でした。フライパンでマトンを温め、炊飯器から取り出したビリヤニをフライパンに入れてかき混ぜて、あっという間にできあがりです。メニュー表にはビリヤニを炊く容器の写真が出ていましたので炊いてくれるのかなと少し期待もしましたが、盛り付けるだけでした。
いただいてみると、スパイス感はほとんどなく、グレービーもほとんどなし、バスマティライスは水分の少ない仕上げで、とてもあっさりした感じでした。香りはなんかのスパイスの焦げた感じぐらいでしょうか。
ビリヤニを半分ほど食べた頃に出てきた副菜は、ビリヤニとは異なりかなり辛い味付けでした。
この数日前に別のお店でいただいたビリヤニは、スパイス感たっぷり、グレービーたっぷり、ライスはしっとりでして、一言でビリヤニと言ってもいろいろとあるものだなあ、と感じました。
