中野で開催された同業者の寄り合いが夜もだいぶ遅くなって、ようやく終わりました。
昼に行き損ねてどうしても食べたくなったタイ料理のナムプリックに行こうと思い、同じ支部のメンバーを引き連れて、駅の反対側を目指しました。
あまり中野慣れしていない人々にとって、ブロードウェイはいつ果てるともしれない苦難の道に思えたようです。
しかも、ナムプリックに電話が通じず、私が偵察に走ったものの、とうとう店も見つからなくて、
「もっと駅の近くの、辛くない普通の店にしよう」
ということになってしまったのでした。
「８人ですぐにはいれる」
これだけの条件で、地下の居酒屋を選びました。
店にはいると、ナベ料理を食べている人がいて、もわっと暑いです。
この日の服装、これ以上脱げない、というコーディネートだったので、たいへん困りました。
みんなとにかく飢えているので、トマトにたたきキュウリと、すぐ出るようなものを頼みました。
お通しはバンバンジー風のあえものでした。
たたきキュウリは、なんとも後を引く味の辛いタレがかかっており、ゴマと糸とうがらしがぱらり、なかなかのものでした。
奥の座敷では若い男ばかりの宴会が開催されており、とてもにぎやかでした。
さて、こちらのお店、自慢は手羽先のようです。
人数分ちょうどで頼んでみました。
通常のサイズより大きめで、皮は香ばしく中身はしっとりとした、かなりレベルの高いものが出されました。
これはうまいぞ！
幸い、連れの中に飲むと食べない男性がいたので、こっそり彼の分も私が食べました。
いろいろ注文しましたが、特筆すべきは鶏レバー。
焼き鳥の串を抜いたような感じで、あまり見た目はよくありません。
しかし、ゴマ油をまぶしてあり、口に運ぶとこれまでに経験したことのない風味が感じられます。
おそるおそる箸をつけた人も、「おいしい」と喜んでいました。
タコ唐揚げに野菜の揚げびたし、いずれもGOODでしたよ。
一人３０００円ちょっとで済んだので、とても良心的だと思います。
酒は主にハイボールを飲みましたが、時間がたつと、食べ物のことばかりが思い出されます。
