高円寺北口から出たら「高円寺純情商店街」の大きなアーチが見えます。その路地裏にある「大一市場」の、更に無国籍飲食店がたくさん立ち並ぶ古い建物の中にクジラの看板を発見。こんな奥まったところにTOKYOカレー百名店が存在しているのですね！
二人がけテーブル席3席とカウンター3席のコンパクトな店内。ドアはないオープンスペースの店舗です。この市場の中の無国籍料理店はどこも同じ造り。開放感があって気持ちいい。
こちら店主ワンオペのカレー屋さんです。カレーの種類は３種類のみ。
■チキンカリー
■ポークビンダルー
■牛キーマカリー
二種盛りと悩みましたが、せっかく高円寺まで足を伸ばしたので三種盛りをお願いしました。お店自慢の３種のカリーが一度に味わえます。
『３種盛り 1,600円』は、もちろんチキンカリー、ポークビンダルー、牛キーマカリー全部のせ。キャベツの千切りのアチャールが付いています。鮮やかなピンク色の福神漬と同じ色。
チキンカリーはスパイスが効いた食べやすいサラサラカリーです。そんなに辛さは感じません。
バスマティライスの上に乗っている牛キーマは少しウエット感がある食べやすいキーマカリー。カリー全体の量が多いので配分を考えずにガンガンライスに混ぜていただけます。
ポークビンダルーはかなり酸っぱいカリー。そして辛い、旨いカリーです。ポークビンダルーはかなり辛い。
ポークビンダルーを何口か食べたあと、チキンカリーや牛キーマカリーを食べると、なんだかそちらも急に辛く感じ始めました。不思議な感覚。「最初から辛かったのかな？」と思うぐらい辛さを感じます。でもその辛さが美味しい！
やっぱりカレー三種味わえて良かったです。高円寺まで来たかいがありました。
