I feel like there was something like an ashtray on the table, so maybe it's not a smoking ban. I've been shopping at a mini-supermarket called ``Takasuita'' near here several times recently (it's cheap in many ways), and on this day as well, while walking, I was thinking of buying some vegetables and desserts at ``Takasuita''. I found this shop after a while. Since it was late for lunch, I wanted to eat something light, so I went in thinking that the lunch menu here was cheap at 780 yen (tax included, same below), so the portions would probably be modest. Most of the tables were occupied around 1:30pm on a holiday. The staff at the store seemed to be quite busy with a man in charge of the kitchen and a woman in charge of the hall, but when you open the door, it makes a sound so they notice you right away. I ordered pad thai for 780 yen (tax included) from the woman in charge of the hall, and the spring rolls, soup, and main dish arrived in that order in less than 10 minutes. The fresh spring rolls are made with only vegetables and topped with sweet chili sauce. The soup is a minced meat and root vegetable soup that you would find at a typical Thai Cuisine restaurant. The Pad Thai was much larger than I expected. And served piping hot. I'm happy with that, but the seasoning was too strong for me. I don't know if it's ketchup or something else, but the sweet and sour taste is too strong, which is a shame. This place has seasonings on the table, so I wish it had a lighter flavor. As for customer service, the food is served without a word, but it's not that bad. I think Asagaya is relatively cheap, but there aren't many lunches of this size for this price, and there are still a lot of customers even after 2pm. It's a restaurant that I'd be happy to have in my neighborhood since it had quite a lot of lunch menu items.
