We have reopened! We look forward to your visit.
The mural was painted by an illustrator living in Nishiogikubo, and it depicts the Himalayan mountains and the animals that live there in a fun way. |
I went to Nishi-Ogikubo in Suginami Ward for the first time for my daughter's recital. After the recital ended safely, my daughter requested that we eat Indian Curry, so we went to this restaurant near the venue. "Indian Cuisine Ganeshagaru" It was lunchtime on a weekend, and the restaurant was crowded with families and groups. My parents were with us, so there were a total of five of us, and we were lucky to be able to enter the restaurant as there was just enough space! The murals of the Himalayas and the god Ganesha, painted by a local illustrator, were impressive, and made the atmosphere even warmer and more homely. The staff were polite and friendly, and even though it was a busy time, they asked if they could take a photo with us! It's rare to have a chance to take a photo of the five of us, so I'm happy ♫ [Lunch Menu] I'm grateful that they also have a kids' set! [Alcohol Menu] They also have lassi sours and star anise sours, which are hard to find anywhere else. First of all, we all toasted to my daughter's excellent performance at the recital! Are they the type who can handle the real thing? They performed well and confidently♡ After this, the adults continued to drink alcohol, such as lunch beer, craft cola, and lassi. The five of us were chattering away at the table, so we only took a few photos of the food. ◾️ "Kids Set @690 (tax included)" A set of mild chicken curry, naan, and salad. My daughter was satisfied with the sweet and soft chicken curry that is easy for children to eat, and the large freshly baked naan! ◾️ "Tandoor Set @600 (tax included)" x 2 Juicy chicken marinated in spices and a slightly spicy kebab assortment. ◾️ "Double Curry Lunch @1,380 (tax included)" You can choose two types of curry and naan or rice of your choice. You can have more naan for +¥250. I chose the meaty two, "Saag Chicken" and "Mutton". The saag chicken is creamy and easy to eat without any of the green smell of spinach. The thick gravy mutton is spicy and rich! You can change from plain naan to flavored naan for an additional ¥300. One piece is garlic naan. It's so big it overflows the basket! It's covered with plenty of chopped garlic, giving it a very punchy aroma and flavor! My mother (over 70) who is still growing (next to me) also ordered extra rice lol. The rice is not basmati rice but regular Japanese rice, and there is quite a lot of it. After the meal, we took a break with a sweet and comforting chai. The curry was delicious, and the best part was that the staff were so friendly and had such lovely smiles lol. I was lucky to have found a place I hadn't done any research beforehand and just walked in. If there was a place like this in my neighborhood, I would go there often! ◆ "Indian Cuisine Ganesha Ghar" ・Website: https://www.ganesha0.com/ ・ Tabelog: https://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1319/A131907/13004342/ ・Address: 4-4-1 Kamiogi, Suginami-ku, Tokyo (Nearest station: JR Chuo/Sobu Line/Nishi-Ogikubo Station, 6-minute walk) ・Telephone: 03-5382-9441 ・Opening hours: [Lunch] 11:00-14:30, [Dinner] 17:00-22:00 ・Closed: New Year's holiday ・Number of seats: 34
