Lunch on this day was Gyoza / Dumpling set meal (830 yen including tax) and bottled beer. There was no mention of beer on the lunch menu, but I ordered it as if there was no way a restaurant like this wouldn't have beer. At first, only beer was served, and after a while, Gyoza / Dumpling set meal was served. As I have been complaining persistently in my reviews, most of Small dish and pickles for these set meals are made ahead of time, so if that's the case, I'd like them to be served ahead of time with the beer. Especially at this restaurant, all set meals come with a boiled egg for lunch. If they had served this with beer, I could have had a boiled egg and a beer while waiting for Gyoza / Dumpling to cook. Maybe I could even enjoy the time spent peeling off the shell. However, even when a boiled egg is served with Gyoza / Dumpling set meal, Gyoza / Dumpling gets cold while the shells are being peeled, or how can a boiled egg with no flavor be used as a side dish with rice? It's not a very happy situation. Now for the main topic Gyoza / Dumpling. The set meal used to cost 900 yen, but now it's now 830 yen. In this day and age where prices are always going up, I thought it was a great idea to lower the price, but in reality, the number of items went from 10 to 8. Well, Gyoza / Dumpling at this restaurant are large, so about 8 pieces is the right amount. The bean paste is well-kneaded and has a slightly unique flavor. The top of the skin was chewy and the bottom was crispy, and the way it was cooked was perfect. I got a free refill of rice, so I thought it would be a good value for money lunch as I paid the bill. The amount is 1,468 yen. Gyoza / Dumpling set meal costs 830 yen including tax, so the difference of 638 yen is the price of a medium bottle of beer. This is probably 580 yen + tax, as 638 yen is not a store that sells half-hearted prices. In other words, during lunch time, meals include tax, but beer does not include tax. In this case, if you order a beer and want the boiled egg that comes with the set meal to be served first, it would be a hassle for the staff at the restaurant, so you can ignore it. Instead, I wonder if everything at lunchtime, including beer, could be tax-included? It's easier for both of us to calculate that way.
