2019年2月のとある休日の11時過ぎに訪ねた。
王子駅を出て徒歩3分ほどの場所にある「金蘭ラーメン」。
やや雑然として、それほど広くない店内には先客なし。
カウンター席1人で座り「支那そば」¥680を外国人店員に注文。
5分ほど待って提供される。
見た目には王道の「支那そば」。かなり細めの柔らかい麺と醤油スープ、チャーシュー、ほうれん草、ネギ、玉子、海苔、メンマが乗った一品。
スープはかなり塩気が強い。ダシがそれほど効いていないような印象もある。塩気を和らげるべく酢を投入して酸味を際立たせる。
「支那そば」のクオリティとして高いとは言い難い。
醤油スープのラーメンはこの店においては、食べるべきメニューでは無かったかもしれない。ボリューム的にもやや少なめで物足りなさを感じた。これで680円は高いかもしれない。
外国人店員のみで構成されているラーメン店であったので、それほど郷愁の味を期待をしてはいけないのかもしれない。次回食べる機会があれば、醤油以外のラーメンを試してみたいと思う。
