I went to a restaurant called "Hyakuten Manten" in Oji, Kita-ku, Tokyo. It seems to be "Hyaku" and not "Hyaku". Why? "Hyakuten Manten" seems to be Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) that mainly serves Tempura. The "ten" in the restaurant name is the "ten" of Tempura. They have special deals on weekdays depending on the day of the week. For example, lemon sour is half price on Thursdays. So I ordered a lemon sour. My favorite drinks are cheap drinks. The appetizer is grated Tempura radish and tempura sauce. It's typical of Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) izakaya, but I was charged 330 yen for the appetizer including tax. I guess it can't be helped. By the way, the spoon used to eat grated daikon radish has many small holes. I rarely eat only grated daikon radish, so this was the first time I've seen this type of spoon. For side dishes, I ordered two kinds of Tempura. I chose squid (219 yen including tax) and chicken thigh (109 yen including tax). The grated daikon and tempura sauce mentioned above are not bad, but they taste better with a sprinkle of salt. Both are freshly fried and hot. The squid is hard to bite into and difficult to eat, but the taste was quite good.
