Saturday, December 30, 2023 Sunny Around 12:00 Visited with family 3.12 at time of visit Parking available Non-smoking Smoking room available Kisoji Minamisenju store in Minamisenju, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo. A family gathering where my wife talks, which has become an almost annual tradition. I'm curious about how to eat Chinese noodles. On this day, we had a meal with my wife's family. The venue is becoming a standard here at Kisoji. We gather every year at the beginning of the year, but this time it was held at the end of the year due to each person's circumstances. Last time we had a tatami room, but this time we had a table seat. This might be better for my daughter. You can choose between shabu shabu or Sukiyaki, but our table has shabu shabu. After all, shabu shabu can be a little lighter for my daughter to eat. However, my daughter ordered children's udon, chawanmushi, and udon, so that was enough. Of course I couldn't eat it all, so I ate quite a bit, but the udon and chawanmushi were delicious. I had oolong tea because I was driving. For adults, Karaage was an appetizer, sashimi, crab, and fried puffer fish before shabu shabu. This alone was enough, but last time they also served Tempura, so this was fine. I wonder if I can enjoy shabu shabu with this... However, it seemed like my daughter was starting to get bored, so we left the restaurant to walk around and play in the entrance, and the waitress gave her a toy. This toy helped me a lot, thank you. While my mother-in-law and nephew were looking after my daughter, it was my turn to have shabu shabu shabu. I couldn't eat very calmly, but I was able to eat meat, vegetables, and tofu. The waiter said, "The Chinese noodles will be coming later," so I thought, "I see, then I'll leave some of the shabu shabu vegetables for the Chinese noodles..." and deliberately didn't eat them. However... the waitress came and said she would make the Chinese noodles, and she neatly removed the vegetables from the pot, and even the vegetables that hadn't been cooked yet were taken away. Eh... it seems that Chinese noodles are cooked without any toppings, just in the water used for shabu shabu shabu. Oh, I see... is this common sense? If that's the case, I wish she'd told us to eat all the vegetables beforehand, even though I left some on purpose. The waitress had a look on her face that said "Huh? Why aren't these people eating everything?" so I guess it's standard to eat everything. The waitress cooked all the Chinese noodles and we ate them all. We ate the last dessert in one go, but we ate my daughter's share too so we were full... We ate everything and took a group photo and then disbanded. I guess everyone except my mother-in-law will come back here again next year. Every year, they don't let us take out our wallets, so they treated us to a meal even though we're old enough to know better, but when I glanced at the bill, it was over 80,000 yen. 10,000 yen per person... I'm sorry. I'm really grateful to have been treated to a meal, and I'm sorry that the waitress also gave me a toy, but my impression was the same as last year. I feel that the staff's attitude is a bit rough. As for the manager, my daughter and I were wandering around the entrance and talking, but he just said "yes, yes." That was the same last year. The waitress was very frank, but her face showed what she was thinking. This waitress was the same one who served me last year...I think she's probably the leader. My impression hasn't changed either. Next time, I'll try to finish it all before the Chinese noodles arrive. Anyway, every year, I complain about it, but it's a feast. Next year, my daughter will be older, so I think I'd like to visit by train and have a few drinks. No, a car would be easier. Oh, the children's menu is delicious and it's safe for families with children, so I recommend it in that respect. Thank you for the meal.
